What is a fire door survey?
A fire door survey takes a wider view of fire door locations and recorded condition across agreed parts of a building. The precise level of inspection, sampling, access and reporting must be confirmed in advance; the term “survey” should not be taken to mean every door has received the same detailed inspection unless that is expressly agreed.
What can the register record?
- Unique door reference and building location
- Door type or description where identifiable
- Inspection date and observed condition
- Defects and photographic references
- Recommended actions and status tracking
- Reinspection dates and inspection history
Why maintain a fire door register?
A register gives facilities and property teams a consistent way to track individual doors over time, plan follow-up work and maintain an auditable record of inspections and findings. Its usefulness depends on accurate initial data and regular updates.
Multi-building and estate surveys
For portfolios, we can discuss consistent identifiers and reporting fields across multiple buildings, subject to site access and an agreed scope.
